
Mr. Rainey has a distinguished professional career that differentiates his approach to consultative wealth management and client relationships. He is a former Jesuit priest, scholar, and spiritual director. His interdisciplinary knowledge and experience in economics, philosophy, law, ethics, theology and applied spirituality bring a wide range of professional depth, intellectual insight and seasoned judgment to the client experience. He is especially skilled in establishing a high level of trust and in guiding the resolution of the complex issues that often challenge highly successful affluent individuals and families.
During his Jesuit tenure, he became a well-published scholar in constitutional law and public policy. He served as trustee and board member for several Jesuit institutions where, as a member of their finance committees, he gained a keen appreciation for the importance of sound investment policy and philanthropy. He left the Jesuits in 1999 after a multi-year discernment.
After working in corporate management positions for several years, he found the opportunity to create a private wealth management company that could fully engage his talents, core values and professional training. He founded Capital Management Advisors LP in 2005.
Mr. Rainey is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Estate and Financial Forum, the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and the Planned Giving Council of Houston.
Mr. Rainey earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin (1973), his J.D. from Loyola University School of Law (New Orleans) (1982) and an LL.M. from Yale Law School (1988). He received a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from the Weston School of Theology at Cambridge, MA. (1987) and holds a Master in Sacred Theology (S.T.M.) from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley, CA. (1990).
He is married and has two beautiful step-daughters and three grandchildren.
